This XLW is one of the last vans built by Xplorer and is the epitomy of the 30 years of experience and progress they made. They put everything they had into it. Every last detail was thoroughly thought out, custom made and perfected. The build quality is unparalleled. The side walls of the van are flared so they widen as they go back and are capped with fiberglass on the back and top. This allows for more space for the shower to be more private and built on the side and have a large king size bed in the back. The interior build is very quiet while driving down the road. The exterior and interior shell of the entire van consists of two layers of fiberglass, an outer layer for the shell and an inner layer as the walls. To contrast this, most other Bs out there use some sort of particle board or vinyl as the interior walls. The interior wall of this XLW is an entire fiberglass piece. They infused the two layers with urathane foam. This is the same way they insulate refrigerators. The bathroom is made of all fiberglass construction, and is completely sectioned off from the rest of the RV for full privacy. The cabinets are laminated plywood construction. The rear bed is a king bed and it's foam is extremely comfortable. Its electrically controlled and doubles as a forward facing bench seat. The fresh water tank sits in a fiberglass basin built into the floor that sits on top of the rear axle. This puts the heaviest part of the van, (the water) in the lowest most centralized part of the van (the rear axle). While most vans have rear inset wheels that are narrower then the front and make the van look anemic, this has rear duallies taken from the Ram 3500 and give this van unprecedented balance and stability. Xplorer also added a fresh water tank heater for cold weather climates. There are custom fiberglass parts all over the vehicle for weight reduction, such as next to the roof ac to create storage, and a sliding tray in the back underneath the bed. It's really a work of art. If this van was to built today with all the offerings it would cost more then a 100k.
