The engine is a 2.8 liter VR6. The transmission was rebuilt in 2014 by German Transaxle of America (I've used them before, they do excellent work). The axle shafts, joints and bearings were replaced as well. A ScanGuage II was installed and monitors operations via the OBDII connector.
This girl is ready to travel. She gets a respectable 18-20 mpg. That is what I get on my other Eurovans without the cabin, pretty amazing aerodynamics. I have the Carfax report and it has a clean history and usage pattern is typical of an RV (low annual miles).
The Volkswagen Rialta is a cult classic. They are reliable and hold their value through time. It is a good investment. Even better if you can make the time to enjoy it.
