Price: $12,000Used RV for Sale, Found this antique Silversides Greyhound offered for sale on Craigslist in Puyallup, Washington, an American postwar bus made by General Motors in 1948 for the Greyhound fleet, well-known as GM 4151 Silversides as a 'limited' model which was in part designed by Greyhound themselves.

Detail by owner
1948 GM Coach PD-4151 Silversides
Former Pacific Greyhound Lines Coach
35 feet long, diesel pusher, 8 feet wide, 10.5 feet tall
Converted to a motorhome title, no CDL required
Clear title in my name
Detroit Diesel 6-71 (inline) non-turbo
4 speed manual on steering column ("on the tree")
Air brakes, manual parking brake
Air assist steering
Has all of it's windows, and they are all flat glass (important, curved glass on old busses is usually impossible to replace - any glass shop can make new flat glass windows)
Bus condition:
This bus starts, runs, drives and stops well! Top speed is approximately 72mph and I personally got 14 miles per gallon between Tacoma and Sacramento. The bus is all aluminum and only weighs about 22000 pounds (very light for such a long vehicle!).
Recent work:
The bus was recently taken to Bates Technical College's Diesel Repair Program , where it received:
6 rebuilt fuel injectors
New fuel filters
Oil change (Shell Rotella T1 SAE 30W)
All brakes checked and adjusted, lines & accumulators cleaned
Suspension checked and lubricated
New batteries and upgraded battery cables
Professionally rebuilt starter
6 recent tires on newer rims
And everything on the bus was looked at over and over again as part of the classes at the school. It is in good shape and ready to drive to your location for you to make the interior yours.
The good:
Bus has previously been stripped to the "studs" and insulated and floored, with a simple camper interior installed. In a few hours work, the wood panels can come out you're ready to start your project without having to do a lot of cleaning, removing and insulating.
Has new, unused water tanks (80 gallon fresh, 40 grey, 40 black) in underbays
Large propane tank installed
RV Propane stove/oven on board, ready to be connected
6.5KW Onan Gasoline Generator in the generator bay underneath, with separate fuel tank, ready to be installed
Two sky lights and fantastic fans
Boxes of extra parts, including some original glass lenses
The major needs:
New windshield (flat glass, already have new seals, any glass shop can cut them to fit)
Dash and electrical wiring - I'd start over, as the wiring is original
Located in Puyallup, WA right off WA 512. Easy access to 512, I-5 or WA 167.
Please write to get in touch, where I'm happy to email or talk on the phone about this great bus. I've owned the bus for almost 17 years, lived in it for a time and have gone up and down the west coast in it and love it dearly. I am moving overseas and unable to take it with me.
