This is a 1983 Dolphin built on a Nissan 720 truck with the 2.4 L NAPS-Z engine and 5-speed manual transmission. Gets 15 -- 18 mpg. We purchased this RV in 2012 from the long-time 2nd owner. We fixed up the interior, had some mechanical work done, and made several trips with our kids in WA and OR. But they've grown out of the family camping thing and it's time to pass this rig along.
The cab A/C blows cold and the camper has a Fantastic Fan for ventilation. There's a great stereo with Bluetooth and mic, professionally installed, with new speakers in the cab and camper. The camper has an inverter wired to the marine battery, with 120v outlets and USB ports for use while driving or boondocking. There's efficient LED lighting throughout the interior.
This RV has a propane/electric refrigerator, 4-burner stove with oven, propane furnace with thermostat, hot water heater, and a big awning over the door to the cab -- all working. There are fresh water, gray water, and black water tanks. There's a working indicator panel for tank fluid levels and battery. The flooring is new, the shower dried in with 1-piece plastic panels, and the custom table top is beautiful. The roof was resealed and she's watertight. This RV has six new truck tires (Hankook RA08s) with about 2,000 miles on them and a brand new chassis battery.
Here's a summary of mechanical work done in the past three years at a professional shop, with receipts:
• New water pump, radiator reconditioned, and new coolant
• All belts replaced
• Brake system flush
• New rear differential fluid
• Transmission fluid replaced with high-temperature synthetic
• Exhaust head pipe replaced
• Front sway arm bushings replaced
• Clutch master and slave cylinders replaced
The odometer says 125,000 miles. The second owner told us she had the engine rebuilt at some point but wasn't able to find us a receipt. We can say that the oil stays clean, that the engine doesn't burn any oil, and that this RV cruises easy down I-5 at 60 mph.
