We have decided to sell our classic bus conversion since we aren't using it and don't really have the time to work on it more. Owned for about 6 years, taken on a few vacations. Comfortably sleeps four and could easily be reconfigured for 6.
Chassis:
1978 GMC P8M4905A 40-foot motor coach bus, Detroit Diesel 8V71, Allison V730 automatic, power steering. Runs good, mileage on chassis and rebuild history on engine/trans unknown. Block heater installed when purchased and used for cold weather.
Replaced since owned:
Batteries, water pump, front airbags, front tires, front brake chamber.
Interior:
Rear bedroom with queen bed, memory foam mattress, storage underneath
Walk-through bath with toilet, sink, stand-up shower, storage area.
Bunks (2) with overhead and under-bed storage.
Kitchen with small older RV propane/120V refrigerator, 3 burner propane stove, dual sink, microwave, cabinets.
Dinette with four original bus seats and table.
Small sofa and upholstered chair for front seating.
Systems:
Circuit breaker panel with 50A shore cord. Outlets and 120V lighting installed throughout.
City water connection and 19 gal 120V water heater. No fresh water tank or 12V pump (space and level sensor available).
36 gal grey water and 36 gal black water tanks with contactless level meters and standard dump valve and RV sewer hose fitting in rear baggage compartment. 12V macerator pump installed.
ABS drain and 1/2" PEX supply plumbing.
9000 BTU minisplit heat pump/AC in rear and 10,500 BTU package heat pump/AC for front. All HVAC equipment in front baggage compartment (no roof air units). Coach AC disabled, coach heat works.
Middle baggage compartment completely available for storage.
Pros: Basic, solid older bus conversion that served us well. Good first bus conversion for someone willing to do some work. Can be used as-is to stay at campgrounds.
Cons: Could use a paint job (rust), crack in RH windshield, LH D window, could use interior finish work.
